Methods

This population cohort will be searching our Data Sources developed using the following criteria:

  • Diagnosis of CHD between 2008 – 2013
  • Presence of one or more ICD-9-CM codes or the equivalent under other systems of 745-747, excluding:
    • Congenital heart block (746.86)
    • Absent / hypoplastic umbilical artery (747.5)
    • Other anomalies of peripheral vascular system (747.6X)
    • Other specified anomalies of circulatory system (747.8X)
  • All ages

Once this population cohort is developed, we will have a comprehensive view and description of neonates, infants, children, and adults with congenital heart disease. From this data, we will be able to understand the geographic distribution of where these patients live in North Carolina, their experiences in public education, and their clinical treatment and outcomes in relationship to their congenital heart disease.

We are very excited to get a comprehensive look at all patients in North Carolina so we can best understand how to serve this population in the future.
