Welcome to the website for the North Carolina Congenital Heart Defect Network! We are excited about this new venture and hope to bring you the most up to date information and resources relevant to both children and adults with congenital heart disease.
Through this disease surveillance project funded by the Centers for Disease and Control, we hope to understand the impact of congenital heart defects in North Carolina. We hope that this better understanding will lead to improved care all spectrums of our congenital heart disease population.
The overall objective is to develop and implement a population-based registry for CHD to improve disease surveillance across North Carolina.
The North Carolina Congenital Heart Defect Network will be a partnership between the North Carolina Birth Defects Monitoring Program and each of the CHD treatment centers in the state. The Network will evaluate healthcare delivery and health outcomes, with specific attention to disparities by race/ethnicity and geographic location.
